The Congress High Command has finally woken up to the ongoing feud between Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his detractors within the party over alleged bias towards certain parts of the state. The High Command, according to sources, has decided to step in to settle the issues and as a first step will soon call a meeting of the state coordination committee. In the meantime, there have been strict orders for everyone to remain silent.
State Power Minister Ajay Singh Yadav who opened a front against the chief minister, however, maintained that he would join hands with another known Hooda detractor,Rao Inderjit Singh to expose the governments bias against his constituency of Rewari.
Twice embarrassed in his home constituency, first over land acquisition row and now over Hoodas refusal to convert the Mirpur Regional Centre into a university,Captain Yadav has decided to take on the chief minister and has gone to the extent of accusing Hooda of backtracking from his promise to provide Rewari with a university.
Of late,he (Hooda) has been doling out universities but when it came to Mirpur,he behaved differently. There are three universities in Rohtak (Hoodas home district),the Maharishi Dayanand University,IIM,BDS University of Medical Sciences. Beside the Rohtak constituency will have AIIMS II. The Sirsa Regional Centre that was established after us,has already been converted into the Tau Devi Lal University. The Mirpur Regional Centre has 24 years of standing yet it is denied the status. He should give me one reason of justification for not doing so, Yadav said.
The power minister also said he will approach the party High Command to ensure that all parts of the state get equitable share in incentives from the government.
Hooda is already under the cloud from the Opposition over his alleged partisan attitude towards his constituency of Rohtak.
Party sources, however, said state leaders, who had been voicing their concern over certain issues, have been told to stay quiet especially with the Assembly session set to begin on August 24. This feud within the party will provide the opposition with enough ammunition to attack the government, hence it was necessary to push the breaks, said a party leader.
B K Hariprasad, general secretary in charge of Haryana affairs of the Congress told The Indian Express: All the issues pertaining to the state will be discussed at the state coordination committee which will represented by senior party leaders.
He refused to divulge the possible agenda for the meeting. I cannot discuss these things with the media but soon these issues will be taken care of. I also cannot tell you who spoke to me from the state regarding this but I am aware of the matter, he added.
