The two-member inquiry committee, which was appointed by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nawanshahr in the twin-infant death case, while submitting its report to the DC on Friday stressed the ‘utter negligence’ of the doctors at Dr Javed Alam Hospital in handling the newly-born male twins. The male children were declared dead at the time of their birth, but one was found alive in the mortuary of a charitable hospital after spending 10 hours in freezing temperature. The infant later died.

The inquiry was conducted by Sub Divisional magistrate (SDM) Banga Vijay Kumar Syal and Senior Medical Officer (SMO) Renu Sood. The panel expressed surprise over the attitude of staff members of charitable hospital for not checking the infants before sending them to the mortuary. Sources also informed that the inquiry report revealed the ‘utter callousness and ‘pathetic attitude’ on the part of doctors at the private hospital.

The inquiry report pertains to two premature male children delivered by Jaspreeet Kaur of Balakipur village on Sunday at Dr Javed Alam Hospital in Banga. After the infants were declared dead, the family took the children to a mortuary of charitable hospital,Guru Nanak Mission Hospital.
