A two-year-old leopard was found dead this morning near here,Forest Department officials said.
This was the fifth leopard death reported from the district within a fortnight.
According to Sanjay Thaware,Divisional Forest Officer (DFO),Brahmapuri Division,residents of Govarpeth village spotted the leopard’s carcass at around 7 am and informed the officials concerned.
Post-mortem report of the beast indicates that the animal may have succumbed to starvation,he said. Yesterday,a leopard cub was beaten to death by a mob after it attacked and injured a woman on the city’s outskirts.
On April 1,a big cat was knocked down by a vehicle on the Chandrapur-Durgapur Road. Two other leopards were found dead on April 4 and April 7
