Vigilance sleuth held for graft

A Vigilance Bureau sub-inspector posted at Pathankot and three others were arrested on Tuesday for demanding Rs 55,000 bribe from a Punjab Police constable.

Amritsar: A Vigilance Bureau sub-inspector posted at Pathankot and three others were arrested on Tuesday for demanding Rs 55,000 bribe from a Punjab Police constable. Sub-inspector Madan Lal had demanded the money from constable Lubhaya Masih to settle a case in which it was alleged that the latter had been promoted in violation of norms. The three other accomplices held had been identified as Anil Kumar,his father Ramkishan and Karnail Singh,an agent at DTO office.

S-I,gunman suspended

Amritsar: Gurdaspur police on Tuesday suspended Sub-inspector Manoj Kumar and gunman Sanjeev Kumar for negligence. Manoj had allegedly given his official weapon to the gunman from which a shot was fired outside a court complex,Gurdaspur SSP,Ravcharan Singh Brar said.
