The cyber crime cell of Mumbai Police Crime Branch told Bombay High Court (HC) on Wednesday Google subsidiary YouTube had blocked objectionable scenes in the anti-Islam film The Innocence of Muslims on its request.

However,YouTube could not provide the IP addresses used to upload the film as these were outside India,said inspector Ravi Sardesai in an affidavit filed in response to a petition by Congress member Ameen Mustafa Idrisi seeking removal of the film from the Internet.

For this,he said,letters rogatory (seeking assistance of foreign judicial system) would be issued soon. After Addl Solicitor General Kevic Setalvad,who represented the Centre,sought time to reply,the matter was adjourned to October 17 by Justices Sharad Bobade and Rajesh Ketkar.

The cyber crime cell said it was closely monitoring the Internet to ensure objectionable content was deleted or blocked.
