14 killed in Chamba bus accident

Fourteen people were killed and 11 were injured when a private bus skid off the road and rolled down a deep gorge in Churah area of Chamba district, 70 km from the district headquarters, on Saturday. The accident took place around 3 pm. The bus, which had 24 passengers, was on its way to Himgiri from Chamba.

Deputy Commissioner M Sudha Devi said the injured had been shifted to a local hospital. She added that rescue operations had begun with the involvement of locals. A magisterial  inquiry has been ordered into the accident by the deputy commissioner to ascertain the cause of the incident.
