50 ITIs proposed to be set up in J-K: Govt

The Jammu and Kashmir government today said it plans to open 50 Industrial Training Institutes.

The Jammu and Kashmir government today said it plans to open 50 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in uncovered blocks of the state.

Replying to a question in Legislative Assembly,Minister for Technical Education R S Chib said a proposal for opening of 50 ITIs has been sent to centre under Kaushal Vikas Yojana KVY scheme.

After receiving the nod,these would be opened in a phased manner including one at Chenani in Udhampur district.

The Minister said that the Centre has approved 18 new polytechnics for the state of which one each would be established in Udhampur and Kathua districts.

He said the Centre has released Rs 36.48 crore and the process of land acquisition and infrastructure building has been initiated.

Chib said that Kathua district would also get a polytechnic from the 18 sanctioned.
