In a ragging incident in the premier medical institute AIIMS,its authorities today expelled two senior students for two months from the hostel for misconduct and indiscipline.
In compliance of AIIMS policy of zero tolerance on ragging issues…consequent upon the report of the committee,Director AIIMS has imposed penalty on two senior students of expulsion from hostel for two months for misconduct and indiscipline, a release issued by the AIIMS PRO office said.
An incident of misconduct was brought out by one of the Anti-Ragging Squads which was duly inquired into by a high- level Committee headed by the Dean,Prof Rani Kumar, it said.
The incident happened on the night of August 21,when three senior medical students including an intern were accused of ragging juniors at the hostel. They were allegedly caught by the hostel warden and the matter was reported to the Dean.
While no formal complaint was registered by any student,the institute formed a committee headed by the Dean the next day,to look into the matter.
The institute has an anti ragging squad which is active and we have given them a set of guidelines to follow to ensure that no fresher is ragged, a senior AIIMS official said.
The Committee submitted a report after AIIMS authorities met the students to ascertain the sequence of events.
Refusing to disclose details of the report,a senior AIIMS official said,The reports of the institute Dean and the other enquiry committee headed by the hostel superintendent was submitted to the Director today based on which this decision was taken.”
