BJP president Amit Shah addressed a massive rally of party workers on Saturday afternoon in Jaipur. Following an aggressive membership drive in Rajasthan, Shah was scheduled to address BJP workers to boost their morale.

“We have already crossed the 75 lakh membership figure in this state and soon no other party will find a place here. Our workers have visited the smallest of towns and villages,” Shah told the gathering at Amroodon ka Bagh maidan. “When the Congress was in power, there were scams in everything, right from sand mining to coal, chopper deals to airports but in the past one year, BJP has rooted out corruption in the government. Not a single scam has been reported,” he said.

“Our first priority was to bring back black money and a special investigation team was constituted for that. When we took over, crores of families did not have a bank account. But, in 11 months through the Jan Dhan Yojana, we took bank accounts to 14 crore households. We also brought down petrol and diesel rates,” Shah said.

He added: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has toured several countries and there he spoke in Hindi, giving due respect to our ‘rashtrabhasha’. This century belongs to India.”

Shah further said the government is committed to providing relief to farmers and lauded Modi’s decision to bring down the eligibility criterion for compensation from 50 per cent crop damage to 33 per cent. “Even CM Raje has taken several steps to help farmers. Her Bhamashah scheme goes a long way in strengthening the position of women in society,” he added.

Raje, while recounting her government’s achievements, announced the rollback of power tariff on ‘krishi connections’ and assured that the high bills will be adjusted by subsidised rates in the next billing cycle. Hitting out at the previous Ashok Gehlot government, Raje said, “We had left the government in revenue surplus but when we took over from the previous Congress government, the state was in a debt of Rs 2.10 lakh crore. People should ask Gehlot where all the money went and he should apologise.”

Raje said the father of deceased farmer Gajendra Singh, who hung himself during an AAP rally in Delhi, had written to her seeking a CBI inquiry into his death. “His father has claimed that the suicide note is fake and it is not his son’s handwriting and has sought a CBI inquiry. He has asked me to convey this to Home Minister Rajnath Singh,” Raje said.
