ANC demands repeal of AFSPA in J-K

Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference (ANC) demanded repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in order to bring semblance of normalcy in the state.

Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference (ANC) on Friday demanded repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in order to bring semblance of normalcy in the state.

“AFSPA is being grossly misused by the security forces and this has been demonstrated during the recent ruthless murders of two Kashmiri boys Waqim Ahmed and Zahid in Srinagar,” senior Vice President of ANC Muzaffar Shah said here.

“To bring back a semblance of normalcy and restore confidence in the minds of people in the state, repeal of AFSPA is most important,he said.

On Chidamabaram’s surrender policy facilitating return of Kashmiri militants who had crossed over to PoK,Shah said “It seems nothing but a pure rhetoric to gain public sympathy.”

“If the Centre and the state government is serious, they should release the youth languishing in jails on charges of border crossing,” he said.

Shah accused the charged National Conference government of reneging on all its promises, including providing jobs to youth.
