Army jobs: Vandalism ignited as aspirants protest test

Aspirants for Army jobs turned violent and refused to take orders during the compulsory test.

About 24 aspirants for Army jobs were injured in police lathicharge when they vandalised some vehicles and blocked a road to protest against alleged harassment during physical test today,police said.

The trouble began when the candidates were asked to take five rounds of the sprawling Sandis Ground in this district headquarter town.

While the authorities said the run was mandatory,the candidates claimed the stipulation was to run around the ground four times and not not five times.

When a quarrel was on,a group of candidates came out of the campus and started vandalising rickshaws and blocked the road stopping a prisoners’ van,police said.

Soon police came to spot and used lathis to disperse the mob injuring 24 candidates.
