Accusing them of violation of election rules, the BJP said on Friday that it had drawn the attention of Election Commission that the Congress party had made several populist announcements after the model code of conduct had come into effect. In a letter written to the election commission,BJP spokesman Kailsah Bhatt referred to two news items published on Friday and on March 29 in a local daily that claimed that the Congress government had announced a slew of programmes including one that solves drinking water problems. Pointing to one of the news items,Bhatt alleged that issuing an ordinance announcing conversion of 2005 hamlets having a population of 250 persons per hamlet as new revenue villages, was against the model code of conduct. Citing the other instance,Bhatt said that the government's announcement regarding supply of water from Chambal river to Bhilwara town from Ranapratap Sagar dam to solve drnking water problem of the people was also against the norms.
