Believe it or not,Britons are among the most crotchety in Europe when they wake up in the morning.
A new survey has revealed that majority of Britons admit that they are short-tempered,grouchy and still half asleep when they eventually crawl out of bed on dark, damp and cold mornings,a media report said.
In contrast, other Europeans wake up with a spring in their step, ready to face the day ahead.
Finding the energy to pull back the bedsheets is a problem for 40 per cent in the UK,who prolong the agony of getting up on a weekday morning by snoozing for at least 10 minutes, the poll found.
Nine out of 10 Britons say they do not feel alert in the morning and two third complain they are not ready for the day. The majority rub their eyes and yawn as they reach for the coffee-maker in an attempt to kickstart proceedings.
Only a third of Britons describe themselves as early birds who jump out of bed when the alarm goes off.
Britain heads the league of the grumpiest nations alongside Sweden,Finland,Norway,Austria and Holland.
The French top the list of those who wake up happy to face the day, closely followed by the Germans,Belgians,Danes and Swiss.
The survey of 11,000 Europeans was carried out for Philips Wake-up Light.
