Death threat posted on Advani’s website traced to Mau in UP

The death threat,posted on the website of Leader of the Opposition and BJP prime ministerial candidate L K Advani,has been traced to Mau in UP.

The death threat,posted on the website of Leader of the Opposition and BJP prime ministerial candidate L K Advani,has been traced to Mau district of Uttar Pradesh,where some persons have been picked up by the police for questioning,Home department sources said in Lucknow.

We have deployed ATS team to probe into the threat post,which originated from Mau district. A few persons have been picked up from there for questioning,a senior Home Department official said.

One person Sadiq Masood,a software engineer of one Webdot Software Institute has been detained in Mau by the ATS team,sources said adding that he was being questioned by the personnel about his role.

The computer of the insitute was used to sent the post to Advani,sources said,adding that they were still probing the matter.

Advani had yesterday informed the Centre that he had received a death threat posted on his website on Feb 4 reportedly by a Pakistan-based terror organisation Harkat-ul-Mujahiddin.

The one-para post threatened harnessing of new technology weapons that could easily be used against public personalities.

The post was immediately removed by Advani’s office on Feb 4 itself.
