Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Saifuddin Soz on Sunday said the ‘gun culture’ in Jammu and Kashmir was an obstacle in the development of the state.
“The economic conditions can not progress due to the gun culture and thus the state is facing several problems including unemployment,” he said.
Addressing a public meeting at Sumbal,25 kms from here in Bandipora district,Soz said all issues could be sorted out only through dialogue,which would also help restore peace in the sub-continent.
The state government was initiating measures for the socio-economic development of the people living in 19 villages on the banks of Wullar lake,he said,adding measures for construction of roads,supply of drinking water and power besides medicare facilities had been formulated.
He said the Central government had chalked out a comprehensive plan for preservation of the lake.
Soz announced Rupees 2.50 lakh out of his MPLAD fund for construction of a culvert in Leharwal Pora.
