IED recovered in Baramulla

Police on Friday recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) from a crowded place in Baramulla,55 kms from from Srinagar.

Police on Friday recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) from a crowded place in Baramulla,55 kms from from Srinagar.

The IED,kept in a pressure cooker by militants,was found at a local vehicle stand this morning when the place was bustling with passengers,police said.

The explosive device was later neutralised by a bomb disposal squad,they said.

Meanwhile,Jammu police claimed to have cracked the murder case of a Naib Sarpanch there by arresting an alleged supporter of Hizbul Mujahideen from Reasi district.

Nazir Ahmed was arrested from his house at Hari Wala village yesterday for helping militants in the killing of Naib Sarpanch Noor Hussain.

Police said the accused had confessed that he had been asked by a top militant Mushtaq Bhat alias Maqsood to provide shelter to two militants of the outfit.

Ahmed had received the militants,arranged their shelter and helped them in executing the killing of Hussain a fortnight ago in his house at Lanch village.

Efforts were on to nab the two HM militants involved in the killing,they added.
