Five people, including a senior J&K police officer, were injured after clashes erupted between security forces and protesters over a case of a woman’s harassment by a J&K policeman in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday. Local residents alleged that a constable of the J-K police’s counter insurgency group had harassed a girl at Rajpora Chowk in Pulwama around 3 pm. As the news about the incident spread, people took to the streets and clashed with the police, who resorted to tear gas shelling and aerial firing to disperse the protesting villagers. Pulwama Superintendent of Police Tejinder Singh said the policeman has been placed under suspension and a case under appropriate sections registered against him.
