The Jammu and Kashmir government is setting up a task force to ensure financial discipline and fiscal management in the state with the government promising that it will be strict against the officials who are found violating the codal formalities in the execution of developmental works.

Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister,A R Rather, said that the task force will take action against officials who award contracts without calling bids, which he said was only breeding corruption in government offices.

He said that the government has noticed that developmental works get affected due to lack of concurrence from the planning and development department. He said that in future the practice of allotting developmental works without the proper tendering won’t be allowed at any cost and asked the legislators to help the government in taking austerity measures. The Finance Minister said that in view of the model code of conduct the state had no option, but to go for vote on account.

He said that the enhancement of district sector allocations was inevitable especially in those areas which are backward and underdeveloped in the state. Rather said that unemployment was a common concern adding that besides utilizing opportunities in the government sector,a conducive atmosphere is being created for the private sector investment in the state to create the job opportunities for the unemployed youth.
