J&K: Two killed after collision with CRPF vehicle, locals set it on fire

Agitated locals started pelting stones at the CRPF vehicle and set it on fire after the security personnel abandoned it.

Two persons were killed on Saturday when their motorcycle was hit by a security forces vehicle near Dal lake here, leading to violent protests in the area, police said.

Mohammad Ashraf Hafiz (42) and a 10-year-old pillion rider were critically injured when they were hit by a CRPF vehicle on Boulevard road, police said.

They were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.

Agitated locals started pelting stones at the CRPF vehicle and set it on fire after the security personnel abandoned it, the police said.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the security forces vehicle was on the wrong side of the road and also over-speeding.

Police personnel rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
