Justify appointment of SICs: HC to Haryana

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday asked Haryana to justify the number of information commissioners appointed,as against the number of appeals filed.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday asked Haryana to justify the number of information commissioners appointed,as against the number of appeals filed. Justice Rajesh Bindal has asked the chief secretary to file an affidavit to justify the appointment of state information commissioners (SICs). The directions were passed on a petition filed by Devender Singh,who had claimed that while he had filed appeal before the commission in April,the date of hearing given to him was January 14,2013.

Panchkula society: HC calls dept secretary

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday directed the Haryana co-operation department secretary to appear before it on December 6 in regard to irregularities committed in a building society in Panchkula. The directions were passed on a petition filed by members of Madanpura Cooperative House Building Society Ltd in Panchkula Sector 26. A probe report by Financial Commissioner V S Kundu had spoken of irregularities committed by the society office-bearers while allotting and transferring residential plots.
