Another judge of Kerala High Court Tuesday recused himself from hearing the petitions challenging the CBI special court verdict which had acquitted CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan and six others in SNC Lavalin case.

When the petitions of CBI and Crime magazine editor T P Nandakumar came up for court’s consideration on Tuesday, high court judge N K Balakrishnan recused himself from hearing the case. He is the fourth judge deciding to keep away from hearing the case involving the CPM heavyweight and six former-bureaucrats.

As the intriguing recusal of judges continued in the Lavalin case, the petitions were referred to the Bench of judge K Ramakrishan later in the day. Observing that he would not recuse himself from hearing the petitions on person matters, the judge posted the petitions for next Tuesday.

Since last November when T P Nandakumar, who had moved the high court for CBI probe into the Lavalin case, moved review petition in the high court against the acquittal of the accused by special court, judges Harilal, Thomas P Joseph and M L Joseph Francis, one after another, recused themselves from hearing the petitions.
