Union Petroleum Minister Veerappa Moily on Saturday said the government has no plan to increase the number of subsidized LPG cylinders from nine to 12.

Addressing the media in Kochi,Moily said the present hike in the price of gas would hit 10 per cent of the consumers only.

“We don’t have such a proposal before us”,Moily, who

arrived here in connection with the formal commissioning of

the Petronet LNG terminal at nearby Puthyvype by Prime

Minister Manmohan,told reporters here.

All eligible consumers are getting the subsidy cylinders. Exuding confidence that the hike in gas prices would not hit electoral prospects of the UPA,Moily ruled out the chances of the government taking back the right to fix the oil prices from the oil firms.
