In an indication of the improvement that has taken place in this insurgency-hit state,there were no security restrictions in Srinagar on Tuesday when Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah went around the city for seven hours reviewing various developmental projects. "There were no traffic disruptions and people wanting to meet him had free access to the Chief Minister," officials accompanying Abdullah said. They said the CM had issued specific instructions that traffic should not be stopped while he travelled around the city so that commuters were not put to any trouble anywhere. Abdullah was freely accessible to the people during his day-long hectic tour which saw him visiting various areas including Ganderbal and Budgam districts to take stock of a number of ongoing projects. This was for the first time in years that a Chief Minister had made such a detailed non-stop inspection of development projects in the city and its suburbs,the officials said. The CM set deadlines for completion of each of the projects he visited and issued instructions that they be strictly adhered to.
