FILE | President of Kedarnath-Badrinath Temple Trust, Ganesh Gadiyal said the idol has reached Kedarnath temple and the doors of the shrine will be thrown open for the pilgrims tomorrow at 4:50 AM.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi began his journey for Kedarnath temple by trekking in the hills from Gaurikund on Thursday afternoon. He covered about 10 km on foot to reach Lincholi and will be spending the night at the base camp there.
He will trek the remaining distance of nearly 7km he will cover in the morning to reach Kedarnath where is to attend the Kapat (portal) opening ceremony of the temple.
Rahul is accompanied by senior Congress leaders, including Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat and AICC general secretary Ambika Soni.

Earlier, Rahul landed at Jolly Grant airport and was flown to Gaurikund on a helicopter.
Rahul will review the rehabilitation undertaken by the Congress-headed Uttarakhand govt after the 2013 disaster caused by flash floods and landslides.The trek route was also built after the disaster.
