Record number of pilgrims visit Vaishnodevi this year

As many as 87,62,326 devotees paid obesiance at the shrine till today this year shattering all previous records: Official

Over 87.62 lakh pilgrims visited the holy cave shrine of Vaishnodevi,nestled in Trikuta hills in Jammu and Kashmir,this year so far,surpassing all previous records.

As many as 87,62,326 devotees paid obesiance at the shrine till today this year shattering all previous records,Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board (SMVSB) officials said.

Last year’s turnout of pilgrims was 87,49,326,they said adding SMVSB was expecting nearly one crore pilgrims to the revered shrine this year.

In 2009,as many as 82,34,896 pilgrims visited the caveshrine followed by 67,92,223 in 2008.

As many as 74.17 lakh pilgrims visited the shrine in 2007 and in 2006,the devotees touched 69.5 lakh mark.

A total of 67.83 lakh pilgrims offered prayers at the shrine in 2005.
