In tune with the shift in approach to governance during his second stint,Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has decided to conduct a weekly review of issues related to each district beginning June 22. Every Monday,the Chief Minister will meet elected representatives and Congress leaders from one district and review progress of ongoing works and implementation of welfare schemes. He will also review the problems being faced by people in respective constituencies in each district and try to solve them, State Minister for Information and Public Relations J Geeta Reddy said. At the cabinet meeting today,the Chief Minister has thrown a suggestion to this effect. May be he will evolve a pattern over these reviews soon, the minister told reporters here. It was also not yet decided whether or not to invite MLAs belonging to Opposition parties for the review meetings,which would be held at the Chief Ministers Camp Office,Geeta Reddy added. She,however,said Congress leaders from the districts would also be involved in the meetings. The Chief Minister,during the cabinet meet,asked his colleagues to focus on strengthening the Congress organisation from the grassroots-level. He also wanted the ministers to constantly monitor implementation of government programmes and ensure that the delivery systems were effective,the information minister said.
