Supreme Court allows replacement of cover at Ayodhya temple

The Supreme Court Monday allowed replacement of worn-out tarpaulin sheets, ropes and other such materials at the makeshift Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

The court directed all parties who claim ownership of the disputed site — Sunni Waqf Board, Nirmohi Akhara and representatives of Ram Lalla Virajman — to appear before the court registrar to get a copy of the CDs containing digitised records of the case. The court noted that the records were in various languages such as Sanskrit, Pali, Gurumukhi, Urdu and Hindi, which were to be translated and verified. On the possibility of an out-of-turn hearing of the batch of appeals, the bench said, “The pleadings should be complete and the appeals ripe for hearing.”
