The Shiela Dikshit-led Delhi government on Monday reviewed implementation of schemes for the welfare of minorities in the capital,during a Cabinet meeting held hours after lifting of the Model Code of Conduct.
In the first Cabinet meeting held today after the EC lifted the Model Code of Conduct,Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday reveiwed the implementation of the Prime Minister’s 15-point programme for the welfare of minorities.
Dikshit discussed each and every point of the programme and gave instruction to authorities concerned to forcefully implement it in true spirit to ensure benefits to the minorities such as Muslims,Christians,Sikhs and Buddhists,a statement said here.
Various departments informed the Chief Minister about progress work carried out for the uplift of the minority community across the city.
“The Department of Social Welfare stated that under 1st and 2nd phases of expansion of ICDS minority dominated areas such as Sangam Vihar and Okhla have been covered. It has been decided to make operational five ICDS in North-East District,” the statement said.
Efforts are on to improve the condition of living of minorities in JJ clusters. Delhi Police have been continuously adopting both long-term as well as short-term measures to strongly counter the communal disturbances in the city,according to the statement.
