Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil on Wednesday said the state can provide connecting roads,water,electricity and other facilities,but cannot give land to start new educational institutes. The Governor was delivering the inaugural address at the Management Day organised by Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) at the PHD Chamber in Sector-31.
Patil urged entrepreneurs to start educational institutes in rural areas instead of focussing only on big cities. He added that at least 30 per cent seats in these institutes should be given to economically backward students.
The theme of the programme was Industry Academia Collaboration-Challenges & Opportunities. Dr Rajneesh Arora,Vice Chancellor of Punjab Technical University (PTU),Jalandhar,was the guest of honour at the programme. Dr Anshu Kataria,president,CMA and Chairman,Aryans Group of Colleges,presided over the function. The event was organised in association with the Aryans Group,Lovely Professional University (LPU) and PTU.
Dr Arora said the industry-academia collaboration will help the country in meeting the big gap between job providers and job seekers. Dr Kataria focused on the challenges faced by educational institutes in India. Dr Ramesh Kanwar,Vice-Chancellor,LPU and Dalip Sharma,Regional Director,PHD Chamber also spoke on the occasion. About 200 industrialists,entrepreneurs,professionals and academicians attended the function.
CMA honoured some educational institutes including Gurukashi University,Bathinda; Gulzar Group of Institutes,Ludhiana; SUS,Tangori; Bodh Group of Institutes,Patna; Bharat Group of Institutes,Sardulgarh; Universal Group of Institutes,Lalru; IET,Bhaddal & Aryans Group of Colleges,Chandigarh. The CMA award for Excellence in Education was conferred on Dr Rajneesh Arora.
