To ensure that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interaction with students on Friday morning-eve of Teachers’ Day- is widely viewed across the country, the Human Resource Development Ministry has directed all the schools to make necessary arrangements.

The CBSE has also asked its affiliated schools to make arrangements so that students could view the address live. “All the schools are requested to make arrangements on the 4th of September, 2015 so that children may get an opportunity to learn from the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s interaction,” stated the CBSE circular.

“The programme may be accessed through TV either through DTH satellite, cable or aerial antenna, Edusat, internet access devices like computers/ laptops/ mobile etc, and radios/ transistors for very remote areas where arrangement of TV viewing facility is not possible,” the circular added.

The HRD ministry has issued a similar directive to schools through state governments.

Last week, the Haryana government directed district education officers to ensure that Edusat systems in their districts are “functional in all respect” and arrangements is made for non-stop electricity supply through generators.

The Telangana government in its directive has deputed officers in schools to observe the programme and send a “minimum of 15 photographs of school children viewing and listening the programme”.

However, the Centre has been careful this time with the choice of its words in its circular after the issue ran into a controversy last year. Several states have alleged that the HRD ministry was putting pressure on schools and students to attend the live telecast of the event.

This year, 800 students and 60 teachers from Delhi will take part in the event to be held at Delhi’s Maneckshaw Centre. Students from nine locations will also take part in the event though video conferencing.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has also directed schools to make necessary arrangements to ensure the live telecast of President Pranab Mukherjee’s interaction with students on Teacher’s Day on Friday.
