Vigilance questions KM Mani in bar bribery scam

The VACB had registered a case against Mani following the revelation that he had accepted bribe from bar owners to get their liquor license renewed.

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) on Friday questioned Kerala Finance Minister KM Mani in connection with the bar bribery case.

Bar Hotel Owners Association working president Biju Ramesh had alleged that a bar hotel owner Raju Kumar Unni had gone to Mani’s official residence in the state capital to hand over the money. He said Unni had gone to Mani’s house in his car.

Ramesh’ driver had earlier told the VACB that he had taken Unni to Mani’s official residence and had seen Unni handing over a bag containing currency to the minister.

Recently, the VACB had examined the vehicle register to ascertain whether Ramesh car had gone to the minister’s house on the stated day.

The investigation has reached its crucial final stage. VACB had informed the court it would complete the probe before the end of this month.
