The ruling Congress in Andhra Pradesh is planning to adopt a carrot and stick policy to deal with the Congress MLAs sailing with Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“If we see history,we have to use something like a carrot and stick policy (to deal with tricky situations). We have to decide our approach as per the situation. Then only,we will get good results,” state Congress president Botsa Satyanarayana said.
He was replying to a query over some Congress MLAs showing loyalty towards Jagan, despite the Kadapa MP launching his own political party.
Satyanarayana, who has recently taken over the reins of Congress in the state, was speaking at a ‘Meet the Press’ organised by the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ).
The PCC president has recently spoken to some of the MLAs loyal to Jagan,in a bid to persuade them not to side with the Kadapa MP.
He said that the party has already asked the Assembly Speaker to disqualify four MLAs loyal to Jagan.
Over the Telangana issue,Satyanarayana said the party high command is also keen on addressing this issue soon.
“I have already said a decision needs to be taken on the Telangana issue at the earliest in the interest of people and party. That opinion is there in the party also. Even high command is also keen on that,” he said.
