BJP will demand CBI inquiry into the illegal mining trade in the state if the Goa government fails to curb the menace,party MP Shripad Naik said on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference here,Naik said the state government had turned a deaf ear towards agitations and exposes by BJP over illegal mining.
“If this continues,then we will be forced to demand CBI inquiry into the matter,” Naik said.
The former Goa BJP president charged that illegal mining had attained serious proportion in the state.
As per estimates,iron ore worth Rs 4,000 crore is illegally extracted and exported from Goa per year.
The issue had witnessed heated discussion in the recently held state legislative assembly session.
Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar had alleged that several ministers were involved in illegal mining trade.
