Centre to deploy 10 Dhruv copters for anti Maoist ops

Centre has decided to deploy a fleet of 10 advanced light helicopters to assist the Central Forces engaged in anti Maoists operations.

The Government of India has decided to deploy a fleet of 10 Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) Dhruv to assist the Central Police Forces engaged in the anti Maoists operations.

The helicopters would be stationed at Ranchi and Raipur.

Revealing this the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General A S Gill said: “The helicopters would be used both for dropping commandos as reinforcements for the operations and casualty evacuation purposes. They will be at the disposal of the Commander of the operations at Raipur.”

Over 80,000 heavily armed central police forces are engaged in the elaborate anti-Naxal offensive across the country.

The three ALH Dhruv which are recently inducted into the Border Security Force (BSF) air wing,have been stationed at Ranchi and Raipur.

To bring down troop causalities and ensure immediate medical care the CRPF has employed over 80 specialist doctors on a contract basis,who will be part of the anti-Naxal operations.
