Clear Jats from rail tracks: Punjab HC to Haryana

Jats hit the streets a week ago demanding reservation in central jobs.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday directed the Haryana government to immediately clear railway tracks blocked by Jat agitators.

A division Bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia said this in a hearing attended by Haryana DGP,Ranjiv Dalal,ADGP (law and order) B S Sandhu and Home secretary and Sameer Mathur.

The three appeared in person to apprise the High Court on the prevailing situation in the state.

The directions were passed in wake of a public interest litigation seeking clearing of railway tracks by Jat agitators.

It has been nearly a week that rail traffic in Haryana has been badly disrupted,with Jats continuing their agitation by sitting on the tracks and not allowing trains to ply. As a result,dozens of trains are getting cancelled,causing immense harassment and inconvenience to hundreds of passengers.
