Co-pilot’s custody extended in rape case

A local court today extended till June 8 the police custody of a Jet Airways co-pilot arrested on charges of raping an air hostess.

Varun Agarwal (27) was arrested on May 29 from the domestic airport at suburban Vile Parle for raping the 22-year-old air hostess on several occasions since May 2009 on the pretext of marrying her.

The police today sought further custody of the accused stating that investigation was underway and medical reports of the victim and the accused were still awaited.

According to the police,Varun,who joined Jet Airways in 2006,started luring the victim since 2008,a year after she joined the air carrier.

Varun had proposed to marry the victim,who rejected his proposals several times.
