Delhi HC blast: After HuJI,IM sends ‘We did it’ mail to media

Fumbling for clues, cops are taking mail seriously though it does not bear IM's signature style.

Another mail was received by media houses in Mumbai and Delhi purportedly written by one ‘Chotoo’ of the Indian Mujahideen who claimed responsibility for the Delhi High Court blasts and warned that another blast will take place at a shopping mall.

The mail sent from ‘chotoominani5@gmail.com’ was received at 12:37 pm claiming the Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami (HuJI) had no role to play in the blasts.

The mail also reasoned they had chosen Wednesday as it was a busy day for the High Court. The Delhi High Court hears public interest litigations on Wednesday.

The mail claimed another blast would take place in a shopping mall.

“We are examining the email received by media houses… about its authenticity and veracity and (we are) taking it seriously,” Secretary,Internal Security,U K Bansal told reporters.

Security agencies including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are looking into the mail but serious apprehensions were being raised whether this was genuine or a prank being played by somebody.

Sources said nothing was being left to chance and the origin of the mail was being ascertained. If need be,service provider Google would also be contacted, police sources said.

However, the mail does not resemble the earlier mails sent by Indian Mujahideen which had claimed responsibilities for blasts in Varanasi and Delhi.

The fresh mail comes a day after Bangladesh-based terror group Harkat-ul-Jehadi-Islami (HuJI) claimed responsibility for the blast which killed at least 12 people and injured over 70.
