Govt trying for Anderson’s extradition: Moily

"We have already moved on the issue of extradition of Anderson," Moily said.

The Union Government is trying for extradition of Union Carbide chief Warren Anderson to India and has taken all possible steps for it,Union Law Minister,Veerappa Moily said.

“We have already moved on the issue of extradition of Anderson by taking the opinion of Attorney General,” Moily told reporters at the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee office.

When reporters pointed out to him that earlier also the government had moved a number of times on the issue,Moily said that there is difference between then and now and all efforts would be made within the law for extradition of Anderson who left the country after the Bhopal gas tragedy.

To a query whether the issue will be discussed during the US President Barack Obama’s fortcoming visit,Moily said that he was not in a position to comment on the issue as it is a matter of protocol between the Prime Minister and the visiting head of the nation.
