Students pursuing studies in Kendriya Vidyalayas will be able to opt for foreign languages like French,German,Chinese,Japanese and Spanish from this session,the Lok Sabha was informed.
It has been decided to introduce these languages in the Central Schools from 2009-10 session onwards provided 15 or more students opt for any foreign language of their choice in any school,Minister of State for HRD D Purandeswari said in a written reply.
The Government has received 42 proposals from different states for setting up of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the last three years,she said to a separate question. The Government has sanctioned 37 JNVs against these proposals.
A total of 2573 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) have been sanctioned in the country. As many as 479 KGBVs are set up in minority concentrated blocks.
