Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday resented the use of “unparliamentary language” by West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and his party CPI-M while criticising opposition parties.

“If a party enjoys power for 34 years in a state, such a ‘deviation from democratic norms’ in the use of language is bound to happen,” Banerjee told reporters here.

She said her party strongly disapproved of using such “intemperate” language and condemned such attitude.

Banerjee was referring to the charge made by LF partner Forward Bloc’s peasants’ wing,Agragami Kisan Sabha, against the chief minister at its recent state convention at Dinhata that he used the “language of the underworld”.
