NCP MLA accused of rape arrested in Mumbai

A 20-year-old girl,in her complaint,alleged she was raped by Dilip Wagh,an MLA of ruling NCP.

Dilip Wagh,an MLA of ruling NCP in Maharashtra who has been accused of raping a girl,was arrested here tonight,the police said.

Wagh has been arrested in Mumbai,Police Commissioner Sanjeev Dayal said.

He declined to provide further details.

The legislator from Pachora in North Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district and his Personal Assistant Mahesh Mali were booked yesterday after the victim lodged an FIR.

A 20-year-old girl,in her complaint,alleged she was raped by Wagh and Mali in a government guest house in Nashik where she was called on the pretext of helping her get a job.

The legislator was suspended from NCP earlier on Saturday.

“The party has taken a serious view of the rape charges and suspended Wagh who has alleged a conspiracy against him.

If he is found not guilty,action taken would be withdrawn,” Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar said.

Earlier in the day,NCP President Sharad Pawar said “he (Wagh) should surrender and face the probe. The party would decide on the issue if he is found guilty.”
