Petition against Ramdev for defamatory remark against Sonia

Judicial Magistrate First Class,Sameer Kulshrestha will hear the petition against Ramdev.

A petition was on Monday filed in a local court seeking that renowned Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev should be tried in a defamation case for his ‘insulting’ words against Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Sameer Kulshrestha will hear the petition against Ramdev,moved by a freedom fighter Ramkishore Pandey (80) on June 10.

The JMFC has issued summon to the editor of a local Hindi newspaper,which carried the news item,to be present in the court as witness.

The petitioner’s counsel Shailendra Dwivedi said that his client has moved the court on the basis of a report published in the newspaper.

Citing the newspaper report,he said that Ramdev in December had used insulting words against Sonia and Gandhi family at Arariya in Bihar.

Dwivedi said that Pandey holds the Gandhi family in high esteem and his feelings have been hurt with the yoga evangelist’s remark.
