Two Praja Rajyam Party workers,who were seriously injured in a police lathicharge at Makavarapupalem village in Visakhapatnam district,succumbed in hospital,police said today. Police resorted to lathicharge to break the indefinite hunger strike by villagers of Makavarapupalem,under Narsipatnam constituency,demanding adequate compensation and alternative house sites to persons displaced by the setting up of Anrak aluminium factory on September 19. R Peddi Naidu and M Srinu sustained grievous injuries and slipped into coma upon admission in the area hospital for treatment. While Naidu died late last night,Srinu died today,police sources in Visakhapatnam said. PRP leaders Allu Aravind,C Ramachandraiah,K Vidyadhara Rao,MLAs Ganta Srinivasa Rao and P Ramesh met Home Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy here and demanded that the Narsipatnam deputy superintendent of police and the revenue divisional officer be suspended and booked on criminal charges for being responsible for the death of PRP workers. They demanded payment of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of the victims as compensation.
