UPA lacks daring political team to implement reforms: Swamy

He criticises the UPA for 'paralysis' in implementing essential reforms.

Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy today said he was not surprised over Chief Economic Advisor Kaushik Basu’s comment on economic reforms as the UPA lacked a “political team” to push through the reform initiatives.

In a statement,he criticised the UPA for “paralysis” in implementing essential reforms and said the hope of the nation now lies on a “renovated NDA” coming to power at the “earliest”.

Swamy said the reforms of 1991 were authored by a “political team” which was pushed through and implemented by the political sagacity of the then Prime Minister Narasimha Rao but the UPA government now lacks a “daring political team”.
