Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said government will soon announce a cut-off date after which all the files will be through e-services. Unraveling the ambitious Maharashtra Digital project on Monday, Fadnavis said, “ Paperless office is not a distant dream. We
are shortly going to set a date. After that every new file will have to be through online.” The digital Maharashtra’s primary objective is to bring more transparency, accountability and efficiency in the functioning of the state government, he emphasised. It would be on the lines of Digital India undertaken by prime minister Narendra Modi, he added.
According to the chief minister, state also plans to have e-services for information sought through right to information act.
The chief minister was addressing his government’s vision at private TV programme held in Mumbai on Monday. He reiterated the government’s commitment to “right to service act” to ensure absolute commitment of the administration to the people. The idea is to bring the service to people in both letter and spirit, he said.
While speaking on ushering in ease of doing business in Maharashtra he said, “ We have taken the drastic steps to simplify the procedures.
The number of permissions required for setting up industries have been brought down because of e-services.” Citing an example he said, “The state government has put in place 56 type plans suitable for both rural and urban Maharashtra. If any entrepreneurs adhere to one of
these specified plans the administration will give permission within seven days.”
According to chief minister the most critical aspect related to taking quick decisions that would be in the larger interest of the masses. And not surprisingly, government wants to make Maharashtra more investor friendly and also ensure there would be no scope for corruption. Fadnavis maintained, “ To begin with I have given the nod to anti-corruption bureau to go ahead with all the cases which were on back burner for the last several years and decades.” At present there is not a single file before me, he asserted. Adding, “ It is extremely
important to send out a message that government is not here to protect the corrupt. Nor is the government going to come in the way of the working of the independent organisations.” There were cases where ABC wanted a nod for arresting individuals who were guilty. There were issues related to proceeding against individuals who were prima facie found to have violated the rules or indulged in financial
irregularities, he added.
While speaking about the challenges ahead he said, “ The foremost task is to ensure lower power tariff to make industries more competitive with the neighbouring states.”
The agriculture sector, thrust on non-conventional solar energy, enhancing the irrigation potential through water conservation projects are some of the issues high on the government agenda, he indicated.
