Authorities in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district are investigating a case of medical fraud after a man posing as a British heart surgeon allegedly performed surgeries at a private missionary hospital, resulting in multiple patient deaths within a month.
Allegations were made by Damoh Child Welfare Committee president Deepak Tiwari who claimed that Dr. N John Kem — a UK-based cardiologist — had a different name and allegedly “used forged credentials to secure employment and conduct complex heart procedures”.
National Human Rights Commission member Priyank Kanoongo alleged said an investigation would be conducted into this incident.
Police said the accused were currently not under police custody and that an investigation was underway. “We are looking into the allegations first and will then take action as per the law,” a senior police officer said.
