(Express photo by Sankhadeep Banerjee)Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat Sunday emphasised eliminating caste and gender discrimination in the society through “special deeds” and by “creating a network of noble power”.
Bhagwat was speaking at the Prabbudh Nagrik Sammelan, organised by the Dr Hedgewar Janamshatabdi Seva Samiti in Vadodara, on the second day of his Gujarat visit.
“The adherence of values, preservation of the environment, feeling of pride for indigenous values can be achieved by creating an equal society and bringing about enlightened families. Special efforts should be made to create a network of noble power,” a release from the RSS quoted Bhagwat as saying.
Among the audience at Bhagwat’s Vadodara event was Dr Jyoti Pandya, the former national vice-president of the BJP’s Mahila Morcha who was suspended from the party after her public rebellion against sitting MP Ranjan Bhatt’s candidature for a third term. Bhatt later withdrew her nomination.
The audience also included people associated with educational institutions, local RSS leaders as well as spiritual leaders, businessmen, doctors and professionals.
On Saturday, Bhagwat addressed a gathering in Bharuch, organised by the Shri Reva Seva Samanvay Samiti, the release stated.
On Sunday, he arrived in Vadodara from Garudeshwar in Narmada district where he offered prayers at the Dutt temple. Bhagwat proceeded to Ahmedabad where he will also attend a similar meet of “intellectuals” Monday.
