In a tragic incident, Gajender Singh, a farmer from Rajasthan, hanged himself from a tree during an Aam Aadmi Party rally at Jantar Mantar in the heart of New Delhi. Although he was rushed to the RML hospital, doctors confirmed that he was brought dead. Home Minister Rajnath Singh has asked the Delhi Police Commissioner to institute an inquiry into the incident. [related-post] Singh was first noticed when he began climbing the tree at the rally at around 1:30 pm. Most people at the time thought that the man only wanted to get a better view of the dais, with CM Arvind Kejriwal having arrived only a few moments earlier. Singh, however, proceeded to use a white cloth he was carrying to tie around his neck, and hung himself, with both his arms wrapped around the tree. In a suicide note that Singh reportedly threw down from the tree that he later hanged himself from, he talks about his problems and identifies himself as a farmer from Dausa district in Rajasthan. "My father threw me out of the house because my harvest was destroyed. I have three children," Singh writes in the suicide note. In the note, Singh also asks for help as to how he could go back home before signing it off with the slogan of 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan'. Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje tweeted that the incident was unfortunate and shocking.
