The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), the country’s top consumer watchdog, has ordered a detailed investigation into complaints related to “deficiencies” in service and products by Ola Electric, a top official said Thursday.
The CCPA headed by Nidhi Khare has asked the director general (DG) of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to investigate the matter. An order to this effect was issued on November 6, the official said, adding that the BIS DG has been asked to submit the investigation report within 15 days.
“A detailed investigation has been ordered into complaints of deficiencies in services and products by Ola Electric,” Khare said when contacted.

The move came after the CCPA initiated action after it analysed complaints received on the National Consumer Helpline (NCH). “10,644 complaints were received against Ola Electric on the NCH in one year from September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024,” the official said.
Earlier, the CPA had issued a notice to the company. Replying to the notice on October 21, the company said that it has resolved 99.1 per cent of the complaints. However, the NCH reached out to aggrieved consumers to seek their feedback and found that the grievances of many consumers were still not addressed by the company.
The NCH call agents tried to contact 287 consumers and managed to speak to 130 consumers, of which 103 (79.2 per cent) were not satisfied with the company’s response, the official said.
