Radical Sikhs ask Nayar to insert addl page in autobiography

Radical Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa took exception to the contents of the apology issued on behalf of Kuldip Nayar that the objectionable parts of his controversial autobiography shall be removed in the next edition.

Radical Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa took exception to the contents of the apology issued on behalf of Kuldip Nayar that the objectionable parts of his controversial autobiography shall be removed in the next edition.

The organization is of the view that the author should withhold the stock lying with the publisher and insert an additional page to clear all ‘false accusations’ against Sikh personalities and their group.

Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said,”who knows when and under what circumstances the next edition would come out. Instead of keeping the Sikhs on a long wait,Nayar should pen down a few lines to clear all the disinformation and insert an additional page in the present edition”.

Taking a jibe at him,he said,”Apology has been issued by Nayar’s journalist friend on his behalf. Here I am not saying that the apology is fake. My submission was what stopped the author from issuing the apology statement in person”.

“If Nayar has genuinely realized that he has rubbed the Sikhs the wrong way, then he should show the magnanimity to face the community, whose sentiments he has hurt by his vilified propaganda”,Singh asserted.

“We will certainly welcome his apology once he issues the statement in a proper and specific manner, without ifs and buts and under his own signature. Till then his apology stands reserved…that is neither rejected nor accepted,” he said.

He said an all party Panthic (various Sikh outfits) meet scheduled for July 20 in Amritsar would discuss and deliberate on the contents of the autobiography along with his apology statement.

Nayar had angered the Sikhs by writing in his autobiography that slain militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and Dal Khalsa were blessed by the Congress and that Sikh Student Federation slain leader Bhai Amrik Singh was an agent of the Information Bureau (IB).
